Bixby High School Wind Ensemble to premiere 36 Blocks
The Bixby (OK) High School Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Jeremy Parker, will premiere 36 Blocks at the 2019 Oklahoma Music Educators Association Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 7:30pm. 36 Blocks was commissioned by the ensemble to remember all that was lost in the Greenwood District of Tulsa during the 1921 Race Massacre.
Coweta High School Wind Ensemble to premiere flash dash DYNAMO
The Coweta (OK) High School Wind Ensemble will premiere Heather Ellis Koehn's newest wind ensemble piece, flash dash DYNAMO, on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 2:00pm as part of the 2019 Oklahoma Music Educators Association Convention.
Canyon's Edge premiered at the Meyerson Center
Heather Ellis Koehn was recently named a Dallas Winds fanfare competition winner. The premiere of her winning composition, Canyon's Edge, took place on November 13 at the Meyerson Center in Dallas, Texas. Navarro College brass, under the direction of Joshua Buckrucker, performed the fanfare to open that evening's Dallas Winds concert.
Starlight Band performs "Boomtown"
The Starlight Band of Tulsa, Oklahoma, commissioned Heather to compose a piece for their first ever "Women in Music" concert. On June 12, 2018, the Starlight Band, premiered Boomtown, an ode to the early days of Tulsa. Heather also made her Starlight Band conducting debut!
